🟠 Some policies are in place to meet basic requirements that are compliance related

Poorly developed: Policies and guidelines are limited to mitigating risks only. They might have been developed only as a compulsion.

Reflection:

  • We may have basic requirements covered; do we have a periodic and consistent development plan for them.
  • Do we understand the risks and the upsides as well? Ask for other FF Partner to share some of their policies etc.
  • How can robust policies and guidelines can actually optimize fundraising and not merely mitigate risks.
  • Others -

Action:

  • Identify immediate and must improvement needs in consultation with industry specialist.
  • Develop comprehensive policies and guidelines- not only to mitigate risks but also to create new possibilities.
  • Others -

Notes for Development:

  1. Policies and guidelines are limited to mitigating risks only. They might have been developed only as a compulsion.

  2. Look at policies and guidelines not as a tool for building discipline in fundraising alone, but also as a tool for establishing more collective way of working for fundraising, deep rooted mission and culture alignment, and for enabling strategic initiatives.

  3. Policies and guidelines are not only control mechanisms, but also a tool for inviting innovations and creativity.
